About the Museum

The British Museum is unique in bringing together the cultures of the world under one roof, spanning continents and oceans. Its eight million objects allow us to explore the extraordinary diversity of human cultures, from small communities to vast empires, to discover the many forms and expressions human beings have given to every aspect of life, and to realise how closely they are interconnected.

This context makes for a fascinating and inspiring environment in which to further develop your career in Human Resources and this is an ideal time to join us as our function continues to evolve. In 2021 we introduced a new HR structure to enable us to support the leadership and management teams of the British Museum and British Museum Company Ltd with high quality strategic and operational HR advice. We now have three exciting opportunities available as we seek to complete our team.

We are currently looking for an Employee Engagement Manager, an Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Manager and an HR Business Partner.

HR Business Partner

The HR Business Partner will lead a small sub team within our HR Operations function; supporting a diverse client group within our Operations Directorate. Business Partners are responsible for consistent casework management, delivering resolutions to complex HR problems, overseeing resourcing processes from design to delivery and supporting the effective management of change, all within the relevant business area. The role also has responsibility for supporting the design, delivery and evaluation of elements of the HR strategy and for maintaining and developing HR policy, processes and procedures, ensuring that those are consistently applied.

About you:

As one of our Business Partners you will be CIPD qualified (or have equivalent experience) and you’ll have an up-to-date working knowledge of current employment law and HR best practice. Application Deadline: Monday 23 May 2022, Midday

Our Employee Engagement Manager will lead on all matters relating to employee engagement, including managing and developing the ways that we engage and communicate with our employees and their representatives (trade unions). Supporting the design, development and delivery of the Employee Engagement elements of our HR Strategy and developing mechanisms for measuring and analysing levels of employee engagement are also key elements of the role.

About you:

You will have previous experience in an HR role, specifically managing the development and delivery of successful employee engagement programmes and initiatives. You will also need to bring experience of working with trade unions or employee representative groups to the role. An ability to balance conflicting demands and priorities is essential as is proven experience of managing and resolving complex problems across a wide range of disciplines. To succeed in this role you will have excellent written and verbal communication skills and be able to demonstrate an ability to relate appropriately to all colleagues and stakeholders.

Application Deadline: Monday 30 May 2022, Midday

Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Manager

Our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Manager will lead on all matters relating to EDI working closely with employees and their representatives (trade unions) and working collaboratively across the HR team to contribute subject specific knowledge and expertise. The role will also support delivery across the full range of HR activity, including recruitment, reward and benefits, training and development, employee relations and organisation development.
