An exciting opportunity has arisen within the People and Development Branch for an enthusiastic person to join our HR Operations Team as a HR Fairness at Work /Grievance Advocate.

Our aim is to deliver a professional and dynamic service to all of our customers and colleagues by ensuring we create a supportive and collaborative approach to all areas of people management.

You will support colleagues across the Force on Fairness at Work/ grievance issues and find effective solutions that are beneficial to all parties concerned. You will coach and support colleagues in dealing with people issues.

We are looking for someone who has proven practical experience of working in a similar role. You will have strong communication skills, possess good interpersonal and listening skills and have a strong customer focus.

In this role you will use your analytical and problem solving skills to help resolve Fairness at Work complaints/ grievances. You will be responsible for managing your own case load, ensuring consistency and appropriate application of agreed policies and processes whilst also having the capability to provide pragmatic advice and support to managers.

This post is based at the GMP Force Headquarters in Newton Heath, although Agile Working is available. However, you will be expected to travel to all locations across the Force on a regular basis.

Greater Manchester Police have been informed of potential personal tax implications for members of the 1987 Police Pension Scheme, who retire and take a pension between the ages of 50 and 54 inclusive and then take up employment as a Police Staff member. Members of the police pension scheme whose age is between 50 and 54 who are re-employed as a Police Staff member have to meet certain conditions to keep their PPA and to protect against personal tax liability charges on any payments paid before the age of 55. One of those conditions is that a break of at least 1 month is required where the re-employment is ‘materially different’. However, if the role is not deemed to be ‘materially different’ then a 6 month break is required.
