THE PACKAGE:
A starting salary of £40k to £45k per annum plus 7% employer pension and 28 days holiday. It is anticipated that this will be a full-time role, employed by RenewableUK delivering work for both RenewableUK and Solar Energy UK (60:40). We operate flexible hybrid working with a minimum of three days a month in person so we can catch up, get creative and keep supporting each other. ROLE OVERVIEW:
This is a newly created position with responsibility for managing core governance policies and documents for our respective boards of non-executive directors, enabling us to stay ahead of best practice in the trade association sector. You will also take the lead on all matters relating to recruiting, developing, and retaining key personnel across the organisations to deliver high-performing teams and ensuring an effective hybrid working environment. Ensuring that all policies are up to date, reward mechanisms embedded, and appropriate systems and software are aligned.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Human Resources
a. Develop and implement appropriate HR and governance strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall business strategies
b. Manage recruitment, appraisals, wellbeing support, pay structures and benefits, selection and exit interviews and oversee payroll
c. Be the organisational lead to improve knowledge sharing and break down silos to ensure effective matrix working on key projects and a one-team culture
d. Assess training and development needs at personal and team levels, linked to organisational KPIs with a view to nurturing high-performing teams
e. Report to senior leadership teams and provide decision support based on appropriate HR metrics
f. Ensure legal compliance in human resource management and wider organisational practices affecting both employees and members, such as data protection
2. Governance
a. Take the lead for governance compliance and support across the organisation, including General Rules, Codes of Conduct and Practice, and Terms of Reference.
b. Oversee and quality control the full cycle of Board and Committee meetings, including agenda, supporting papers, logistics and minute taking
c. Integrate actions flowing from Board and Committee meetings into association programme and planning, including advising on training and strategy away days
d. Support the elections and on-boarding of Board and Committee members and managing review processes

CRITERIA REQUIRED FOR THE ROLE: REQUIREMENTS and SKILLS Essential or Desirable
At least three years’ experience in human resources and a relevant qualification Essential
Demonstrable experience with appropriate metrics and systems Essential
Competence to build and effectively manage interpersonal relationships at all levels Essential
Up to date knowledge of labour law and best practices Essential
Experience of developing business policies in a governance environment Essential
Excellent active listening and negotiation skills Essential
Proven ability to work with senior decision makers at board level Desirable
Knowledge of trade associations or not for profit organisations will be an advantage Desirable
