Job Details

We are in the inception stages of developing a new training Academy for our Group, one that will inspire learning, encourage collaboration and support excellence.  We are seeking an exceptional individual to lead the Academy.

The role will have the opportunity to design and deliver an outstanding training academy with modules to support learning and development for over 300 employees across our Group companies – Chasetown Civil Engineering, Cameron Homes, Galliers Homes and Keon Homes. You will spearhead a programme to attract new early talent to the construction industry - individuals who have not considered the sector previously.

With an in-depth understanding of the skills gap, the role will design training content and programmes that engage and motivate new and current employees, attracting graduates and apprentices to start and develop their careers with Tara Group. Working with our Board, senior leadership teams and stakeholders the role will encourage a learning culture, facilitating career development and contributing to our succession planning.

The right person

We are seeking a highly experienced individual with significant experience in developing, managing and evaluating career changing learning across multiple target audiences.

Cognisant of differing learning abilities and learning platforms you will have a track record of successfully delivering projects to meet varying KPIs with a strong commercial acumen. An ability to communicate and influence at all levels is critical along with an innovative ambitious approach.

If you seek an inspirational role that will truly deliver change for our Group and our industry, please apply today with your CV and cover letter.

We put our customers and clients at the centre of each company, working to understand their needs and aspirations, while developing solutions to meet those needs. To date we have delivered over 2,000 homes through Cameron, Galliers and Keon and have had an involvement in a further 40,000 through Chasetown Civil Engineering, working with the major UK housebuilders. We are recognised by the House Builders Federation (HBF) as a five star housebuilder, an accolade voted for by our customers.

We have a strong balance sheet and a resilient business. A financially prudent group, we re-invest our profits in growing our Group companies for the future with a focus on land and realising the potential of our people, our opportunities, and projects. We successfully develop long term partnerships with landowners, other house builders, suppliers and in particular, other family businesses.

From our origins in 1974, our values have not wavered. They guide our business, support our employees, and reassure our customers and clients - family, trust, ambition, commitment, pride, confidence, loyalty, and passion.

Since the passing of our founder and Chairman Noel Sweeney in 2020, John Crabtree OBE has taken the role of Chair. John has been a Trustee of the Sweeney family for 5 years.

John is Lord Lieutenant West Midlands and Chairman of the Birmingham Commonwealth Games 2022 Organising Committee. He is a former President of Birmingham Chamber of Commerce & Industry and previously was Senior Partner of Wragge & Co LLP (now Gowling WLG), leading Birmingham based International Law & Legal firm.

He served as a Director of Advantage West Midlands, the former regional development agency for 7 years.  In 2003, he was voted West Midlands Businessman of the year, voted UK

Lawyer of the Year in 2004 and has received lifetime achievement awards from the Birmingham Law Society.

John has also received honorary doctorates from Birmingham University and Birmingham City University.
