Introduction

The House of Lords Administration employs around 680 staff, providing the administrative and logistical support for the House of Lords to work as an effective second chamber of Parliament. The Human Resources Office provides a full HR service for all employees of the Administration.

The Recruitment and Onboarding team are responsible for ensuring we attract, recruit and retain a diverse range of skills within the Administration.

The team is responsible for managing all recruitment for the House of Lords Administration to fill high volume and specialist temporary, interim and permanent vacancies.

The Role

The main objective of the role is to support the Senior Recruitment Consultant to provide a proactive, effective and efficient recruitment service. The post holder will manage the end-to-end recruitment campaigns, ensuring a positive experience for both hiring managers and applicants.

The successful candidate will play a central role in the Recruitment and Talent team to ensure it effectively carries out core HR Recruitment tasks to support the House of Lords Administration to hire great candidates. 

The Recruitment and Onboarding Advisor will be the key first point of contact to all staff in relation to recruitment activities. They will work closely with other teams in HR, to ensure a joined-up service that provides an effective and efficient service.

Skills and Experience

  • Recruitment Experience - Experience of working in a busy, professional, customer focussed recruitment/HR team or strong administrative experience
  • Advisory and Guidance - Experience of providing proactive and accurate advice and guidance to managers to a high standard
  • Prioritisation and Problem Solving - Ability to prioritise own workload, often to tight deadlines whilst using initiative to solve problems
  • Interpersonal Skills - Good interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain good working relationships with a broad range of people at all levels within the House of Lords Offices, the House of Commons, PDS and members of the public
  • Communication Skills - Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing with good judgement
