We have a newly created role for an experienced HR professional to join our established HR team to lead, design and manage the Council’s HR policy framework as our HR Policy Manager.

About the role

In this newly created role within the Council, you will report to the Head of HR Business Partnering and Advisory and collaborate with the wider HR and OD teams, our Trade Unions, and our Staff Networks in designing and managing a new HR Policy Framework.

You will be responsible for supporting the design and delivery of a skills development programme to improve the knowledge and build capability and the confidence of our managers whilst ensuring that any legislative changes and policy developments are fully understood and embedded within our HR team and the wider organisation.

This role offers a great opportunity to work in an agile environment with the opportunity to work remotely although you will also need to attend the office for some meetings with stakeholders and also for team meetings or collaborative events. Alternatively, for those who prefer, access to an office will be available as required.

About you

You will be:

  • MCIPD/Level 7 qualified with relevant experience in designing and writing clear HR policies that provide a solid framework within a fast-paced environment. Confident working with trade unions, staff networks and other HR & OD colleagues to design and deliver user-friendly policies that are modern and represent best practice in line with ACAS standards. Continually developing current knowledge of HR legislation and best practice to ensure we are a leading employer, and you can be a trusted advisor to stakeholders at all levels, developing internal and external relationships and networks. Confident working with colleagues to support the design and delivery of a comprehensive People Management Development Programme to bring about consistent and informed practice across the organisation. Experience within Local Government would be helpful but not essential.
