Talent Development Manager
Location: Birmingham, Bath Row, B15 1LZ
Salary: Circa £55,000 per annum depending on experience
Hours: 35 hours per week
Contract Type: Fixed Term, approx. 16 months maternity cover
In this role you can expect to work from the office 3 days per week.
It isn’t a secret that the social housing sector is changing, with the ‘professionalisation agenda’ making it critical that our people change with it. Joining us as our Talent Development Manager (16 month fixed-term contract to cover maternity), you’ll play a key role in shaping and implementing our response to this agenda, working proactively to ensure that our workforce has the skills and capabilities required to deliver high quality homes and services to our valued tenants.
Working collaboratively, you’ll use your expertise in learning and talent development to further develop workforce competency across our tenant-facing and non-tenant facing teams, with responsibilities including, but not limited to:
- Proactively engaging with key business stakeholders to identify and map our organisation’s current and future skill requirements; designing and delivering meaningful talent development and change management programs that ensure availability of these skills.
- Working with colleagues on an individual basis, to support their career development journey and obtain professional qualifications that recognise them as competent specialists in their field; whilst working closely with learning providers to ensure a positive and meaningful learning experience.
- Ensuring that we have a sector-leading apprenticeship programme which draws down 100% of our levy contribution and, more importantly, enables us to grow our talent and plug current and future skills-gaps.
- Developing and delivering our Leadership and Management Development Programmes, upskilling our existing and future leaders to ensure the on-going success of our organisation and quality of services to our tenants.
Our Smart Working model means that our colleagues deliver services from the location they are best delivered on any given day. This means that you should expect to work from a Midland Heart site 3 days per week (on average), with the remainder worked remotely.
Our ideal candidate? Importantly, you’ll be a seasoned talent development professional with detailed knowledge of Apprenticeships, their funding streams and strong experience of apprenticeship programme delivery. You’ll have a proven track record of developing and delivering meaningful colleague / workforce development plans that deliver the skills required to meet strategic corporate aims. You’ll be a Chartered CIPD Member (or hold an alternative talent development qualification) and be a level 5 qualified coach (or have significant proven experience of delivering positive outcomes through coaching interventions).
Who are Midland Heart? We’re one team working together for our tenants. We welcome people from every walk of life, at every stage of their career. We expect a lot from our people but in return you can be assured of a great place to work, where you will be well rewarded and where great people are able to succeed. Whether you want to build your career with us, or use your experience to move on, we’re here to develop your potential.
