As a People Consultant, you will work across all Council directorates and service areas on a range of projects initiatives. You will work with Directors, Deputy Directors, Heads of Service, senior managers and headteachers as well as other partners and stakeholders. 

You will provide expert advice, guidance and support on a range of employee relations issues including discipline, grievance, managing attendance and performance management.

People services - Recruitment & Retention 

2x Recruitment & Retention Consultant  

0.5x Recruitment & Retention Consultant (12 months fixed term contract)  

£41,418 to £46,464  

Helping to ensure managers can recruit the right people into their roles is at the heart of this job. You will provide expert advice, guidance and support to managers and employees on recruitment, selection, assessment and retention.  

You will advise managers on policy and best practice and engage with Heads of Service to identify recruitment and retention barriers and challenges and advise on effective ways to overcome them.

1x Pay & Reward Officer   

£33,945 to £38,223  

This role supports with the development and implementation of the council’s approach to pay, grading and reward and ensuring the maintenance of pay equality across the organisation. It will involve supporting in the analysis and presentation of data around pay, benefits and reward information to enable future pay modelling and forecasting.

Policy & Strategy 

2x People Policy & Strategy Consultant  

£41,418 to £46,464 

You will be instrumental in the development and delivery of the council’s and schools’ policy and manager guides and People Services transformation projects. Working with People Services operations on best practice and leading stakeholder engagement and research to ensure our work is inclusive and reflective of our workforce and community.  

You will also work closely with our Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) team supporting on key deliverables such as Stonewall Race Charter and Disability Confidence accreditations.

1x People Equality Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) Consultant  

£41,418 to £46,464 

This role will be instrumental in delivering on People Services diversity initiatives to be ‘an employer of choice’ and our commitment to ensure our employees feel empowered, heard and valued.  

Working with a range of stakeholders across the business, the People Services EDI Consultant will be responsible for supporting reporting on pay gap and equality issues, working with our staff equality forums to ensure People policies and processes are co-produced and improvements are communicated.

2x People Policy & Strategy Officer

This role will support the People Services Policy and Strategy Consultants to develop and implement People (HR) policy and projects. You network with other local authorities and public sector organisations to benchmark, review and modernise People policies, management tools and guidance documents. 

You will also support council wide engagement initiatives working with customers across the organisation including Directors, Heads of Service, managers, headteachers and partners amongst others.

All positions will also support the wider Our People Services initiatives including reviewing and developing policies, guides, training materials and standard operating procedures.  Updates will be provided to our managers through our operational network and /or employee engagement sessions, to meet business needs.
