As a member of the Executive Team, the Director of People and Culture is accountable to the Principal for the development and delivery of a People and Culture Strategy that supports the College’s Strategic Plan and enables the College to grow and transform.
In achieving this objective, the post holder will work with the Board, the Principal and senior colleagues by providing leadership, vision and inspiration on a range of strategic initiatives including staff engagement, staff wellbeing, internal communication and Equality and Diversity.
The post holder will also lead a team of HR professionals supporting, guiding and advising on Learning and Development, Recruitment, Employee Relations, Performance Management and Pay and Reward.
Strategy
Provide a major contribution to the overall success of the College through the development and implementation of our People and Culture Strategy.
Take a lead role in helping to shape the organisation’s culture through the introduction of new and innovative approaches to people management.
Work in partnership with colleagues on the Executive team to ensure that appropriate models of leadership and management are in place.
Lead on the management of complex organisational change.
Provide strategic and professional Human Resources advice to the Board, Principal and members of the Executive team, and facilitate informed decision-making on service and business planning.
Develop and deliver a strategic approach to workforce planning, building the College’s capacity and capability to deliver its services.
Provide advice on the development of structures, processes and people management policies to ensure the organisation is equipped to meet the demands of ongoing change.
Lead on performance management, ensuring effective processes are in place and utilised across the organisation.
Human Resources Service
Provide a comprehensive Human Resources Service across the College covering all aspects of Human Resource management, including:
HR policy;
HR service standards and effectiveness;
Resourcing and workforce planning;
Staff induction
Performance management and improvement;
Leadership and staff development;
Organisational development, cultural change and change management;
Employee relations, including liaison with the College’s recognised trade unions;
Legal compliance;
Remuneration and payroll;
Staff rewards and benefits (including pensions);
HR systems and management information;
Equality and diversity;
Safeguarding;
Employee wellbeing;
Succession planning
Lead manage and provide a clear vision and direction to the HR team.
Provide a positive, problem-solving approach to operational and strategic HR issues that meets the needs of colleagues whilst maintaining the fundamental principles of good practice and legal requirements.
Ensure that the College has in place best practice HR policies and procedures.
Develop a strategic approach to learning and development.
