Are you working in HR and feel ready to progress into management?
Here at Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council we provide a professional HR service to a high standard, meeting customer needs whilst operating in line with HR best practice.
So why choose Us?
We strongly believe that a combination of long standing and more recently qualified HR professionals provide a valued blend of experience and innovation, providing the best environment to nurture individual strengths.
Collaboration is one of our key values and you will work alongside other Leads and Managers in the service who are supportive and passionate about our services vision of ongoing progression. We offer continuous professional development, making us an attractive place for people to work and providing you with the next step in your career journey.
We are looking for someone who is CIPD (Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development) qualified and in return we will invest in you our Leadership and Management Programme.
As a Lead you will manage a team of HR Consultants responsible for one of our 3 directorates of the council. Your team is one of the first points of contact for HR advice and guidance, ensuring high standards of customer care at all times.
You will have up to date knowledge of employment legislation, supporting the team on work including:
- Casework linked to all aspects of the employee life cycle (for example recruitment, capability, disciplinary, grievance, Dignity at Work, redundancy, retirement)
- Supporting organisational change across the Council and with partner organisations
- Providing advice on the Council’s policy framework, maternity, paternity, and other types of absence
- Providing accurate management information and data analysis to inform workforce planning
- Planning and delivery of learning events on a range of HR topics
- Development of HR policies and procedures
We embrace flexibility in work locations whilst fostering collaboration in-person. While we value the autonomy to work remotely, we also recognise the importance of face-to-face interactions for innovation and teamwork. With this in mind, we encourage a balance by expecting colleagues to spend at least three days a week in the office, ensuring opportunities for connection, growth, and shared success.
