Learning and Development Practitioner

This role is based in Keyworth, Nottingham

Appointment will be at UKRI Pay Band D / Main. Starting salary is £34,905.

A great benefits package is offered including an outstanding pension scheme, 30 days annual leave plus bank holidays, and access to flexi-time

Full-time – 37 hours a week (some flexible working options may be available, including a small amount of remote working, although this role is mainly based on-site)

Permanent appointment

We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Learning & Development (L&D) Practitioner to join the Human Resources and L&D Team, which is part of the BGS Operations function.

The successful candidate will be working in collaboration with the BGS L&D Business Partner, L&D Co-ordinators, L&D Science Advisor, and other key organisation stakeholders, to design, deliver and evaluate a range of corporate and bespoke learning and development opportunities/interventions.

Your key duties/responsibilities will also include:

• Project managing BGS wide initiatives which support the delivery of the BGS People Plan, including project initiation, planning, monitoring, and reporting.

• Facilitating group and team sessions to maximise engagement with learning and development and to measure and report on impact.

• Analysing and identifying current and future development needs of BGS employees, working collaboratively with scientists and key stakeholders.

• Planning, delivering, and supporting effective learning and change management solutions.

• Providing appropriate development through coaching, mentoring, e-learning, 360-degree activities and the use of psychometrics.

• Contributing to the development of organisational development strategies, plans and policies.

You will also be involved with L&D administration, developing L&D materials/resources, the procurement of L&D activities and management of external suppliers as well as the communication of L&D opportunities to staff across the organisation.

You should have a formal L&D qualification (e.g. CIPD) or have equivalent comparable work experience – being qualified to use Psychometrics and having coaching skills would be highly desirable.

You also need to have excellent presentation/training/communication skills with extensive experience in designing and delivering L&D activities and facilitating group learning.

This is an excellent opportunity to be involved in a wide variety of work, which will enable you to build on your breadth of experience and further develop your skills in L&D activities. This role will also provide you with a very good level of autonomy as you will lead and have total responsibility for your own L&D projects.

Please note – you will be required to have the appropriate level of security screening/vetting required for the role. UKRI reserves the right to run or re-run security clearance as required during your employment.

Please also refer to the additional specific essential and desirable skills criteria for this post.

Applicants are required to include a CV and covering letter outlining their suitability for the role. We would stress the importance of this paperwork in our selection process.

A well thought through application providing evidence and examples of how you meet the advertised essential and desirable criteria for the post will be considered far more favourably than a generic covering letter and CV.

If you experience any issues applying for this role, please contact Recruitment@ukri.org.

The closing date for receipt of applications is Sunday 16 June 2024. Interviews are expected to be held week commencing 1 July 2024 in Nottingham.
