SIA

Head of HR

Salary: to £84,000 plus generous pension and sector leading benefits

Hybrid/ Canary Wharf, London (1-2 days per week)

The SIA exists to protect the public through effective regulation of the private security industry. We are already a high performing regulator, working collaboratively with industry, enforcement agencies, Government, and the devolved administrations to raise standards across the sector. We have three main duties: the compulsory licensing of individuals undertaking designated activities within the private security industry; the management of a voluntary Approved Contractor Scheme, which measures private security suppliers against independently assessed quality criteria; and our compliance, inspection and enforcement work to uphold the Private Security Industry Act 2001.

You will join us at an important time as we seek to continually improve our organisation and deliver impact, working with our partners to join the dots of a broader public protection agenda. We are a small organisation licensing hundreds of thousands of people, and everything we do is ultimately delivered through our fantastic workforce, so the role you will play will be central to continued success.

As our new Head of HR, you will have the opportunity to make a real difference by developing the capacity, capability and culture we need to be successful and ensuring colleagues feel included, valued and committed to our purpose. Now is a great time to join us as we refresh our people strategy for the next 3 years and as we launch our first strategic workforce plan: you will be responsible for leading their implementation to support delivery of the SIA’s 3-year strategic plan.

A trusted advisor to senior colleagues throughout the business, you will operate at the highest levels of our organisation, providing inspiring and developmental leadership to our HR function and elevating people capability in the team and the wider business. Success in this role will result in modernised approaches to people, embedded and effective HR business partnering, talent management structures that deliver genuine value, and an inclusive working culture of which we can be proud.

We are looking for a highly credible and forward-thinking HR leader with extensive HR operations experience and transformation credentials. Whilst specific experience of employee relations, resourcing and/or reward and talent management is of interest, we are above all looking for a well-rounded, inspiring HR leader able to forge strong working relationships at all levels to deliver business improvement and make a lasting positive impact at the SIA.

We welcome applications from candidates from all industry sectors, interested in the fresh perspective that leaders with a different frame of reference can bring. What all candidates must have in common is a commitment to inclusive and collaborative leadership, values that align with ours, and commitment to raising standards in the private security industry.

We think this is an exceptional career opportunity and we will ensure you have the support and development you need to be successful. If you have the skills, experience, and personal values to take up this significant role, we look forward to receiving your application.
