We’ve been shortlisted for a CIPD Wales award for our approach to hybrid working and won awards for that and for our work on analytics from the Healthcare People Management Association.

Well-being is in our DNA, and we are committed to supporting our employees, colleagues, partners, and communities. We focus on our development. We manage by results rather than presence and wherever possible support our employees to make choices about how they work, in line with the work which needs to be delivered.

Key Responsibilities:

Leading People & OD Partners to:

  • Partner Executive Directors and senior managers, delivering strategic support across the employee lifecycle.
  • Enable the translation of long-term strategy and people strategy into strategic workforce plans that support their delivery.

Acting as a strategic partner to Executive Directors and senior managers.

Leading the People & OD Directorate as a core member of the senior team

Leading on significant change management initiatives to drive organisational effectiveness,

Collaborating with NHS colleagues across Wales and influencing the All-Wales agenda.

We’re Looking For:

A strong background in leading teams of People & OD Partners / HR Business Partners at a strategic level and an understanding of the importance and impact of culture, values, behaviour, and leadership.

Key skills and experience:

  • Proven experience in professional partnering at an executive and senior level.
  • The ability to develop trusting and effective relationships and engage others through a coaching style.
  • Expertise in organisation development and change
  • A risk-based approach and an improvement mindset
  • Experience in working effectively in complex trade unionised organisations and fostering positive partnership working.
  • Understanding of the breadth and complexity of the NHS and Welsh context

Please see the Job Description and Person Specification for full details of the job role and the essential and desirable criteria required.

The assessment for the role will take place on the 8th October.

If you’d like an informal discussion about this role, please contact Rachel Attwood, Deputy Director of People OD Rachel.Attwood@wales.nhs.uk

Public Health Wales continues to be an employer open to the opportunities of flexible/hybrid working. This role can predominantly be remote but will also require regular office attendance in Cardiff.   We are supportive of flexible working and tailoring working patterns to individual circumstances where business needs allow.

Fixed Term for 12 months to cover secondment. If you are already an NHS employee this position will be offered on a secondment basis.

Company

Public Health Wales is one of the 11 organisations which makes up NHS Wales. We are the national public health agency in Wales.

We work to protect and improve health and well-being and reduce health inequalities for the people of Wales.

Openness and honesty should be at the heart of every relationship between those providing treatment and care and those experiencing it.

In the NHS, we strive to provide high quality, safe and compassionate care to all of our service users. However, even when we do our best, people may sometimes experience harm. That’s why we have the Duty of Candour.

Our goal is to create a culture of trust and openness, so that you can feel confident in the care you receive from us.
