Job Details
Have you successfully led inclusive organisational design and development initiatives within a complex organisation? Are you passionate about driving positive and impactful organisational change whilst fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join us in this critical role to help us shape the future of our organisation.
Our strategic vision, Archives for Everyone, sets out the type of organisation we wish to be by our bi-centennial in 2038. As we recognise our organisation’s long history, we are also looking forward to the future as we enter a period of transformation that will see us become:
A living digital national archive preserving the contemporary record of government and radically widening access to the historic archive.
A national archive not just of government but of the state – preserving and making accessible the record of the executive legislature and judiciary.
A genuinely inclusive, collaborative and available national archive – an active, catalysing presence wherever we’re encountered.
A demonstrably sustainable national archive, leading the archives sector both through our expertise and by example.
This type of transformation needs time, planning, focus and innovation, and this is where you come in!
You will bring your experience, creativity, critical thinking, and collaborative approach to ensure we can optimise the organisation, bringing us ever closer to our vision for 2038 by ensuring we have the right skills, capabilities, structures, ways of working, and culture needed for us to thrive.
Using your collaborative and inclusive leadership skills you’ll lead a small team driving excellence in organisational design, development, and change.
As someone who is curious and committed to learning, you’ll bring fresh, innovative ideas from outside the organisation as well as build on and encourage innovative practice from within, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
This is a pivotal position ensuring The National Archives is equipped to navigate future challenges, and able to adapt to external demands and government drivers.
Why join us?
Located in beautiful Kew, just 10 minutes’ walk from the Overground and Underground stations.
Civil Service pension with an employer contribution of 28.97%
30 days holiday (excluding bank holidays)
Flexible working opportunities including job share
Numerous wellbeing resources and benefits including an on-site gym, restaurant (with staff discount), shop, and various staff events
Inclusive culture that embraces different perspectives, and one where people are encouraged to think differently and find innovative solutions
Joining an organisation full of committed and talented colleagues, often world leaders in their field, who all share a passion for creating high quality, user focused services for a range of audiences.
This is a full time post. However, requests for part-time working, flexible working and job share will be considered, taking into account at all times the operational needs of the Department. A combination of onsite and home working is available and applicants should be able to regularly travel to our Kew site for a minimum of 60% of their work time.
