The Role

The Director of People will provide leadership, management and coordination of all HR functions across the St Dunstan’s Education Group (‘the Group’).

This is a senior role that requires both inspiring leadership and effective liaison and cooperation with a wide range of stakeholders in order to own, lead and develop the Groups’ People Strategy. Leading on all aspects of HR, including recruitment, retention, reward, employee relations and culture and wellbeing, the role holder will be expected to identify opportunities to continuously improve the business partnering service that their team provides. The role will also work closely with the executive team to shape and devise strategies that create positivity in the workplace, deepen staff engagement, and support creativity, innovation and talent development to enable every employee to thrive.

Some of the responsibilities for this role include:

  • To work at both a strategic and operational level to drive forward the implementation of the Group’s People Strategy. This strategy shapes the Group’s approach to all aspects of HR including recruitment, retention, equality, diversity and inclusion, reward and employee relations in order to deliver an efficient, solution-focused service to senior leaders and managers.
  • To facilitate an effective, risk-assed approach to employee relations that protects the Group and fosters a positive and inclusive work environment, encouraging engagement and professional growth.
  • To collaborate with the executive team and their senior teams to develop and implement professional development programmes to enhance employee skills and career growth. This will include creating and delivering an annual training plan and supporting senior teams to effectively implement the programmes.
  • To ensure that the Group’s HR policies, practices, procedures and reporting are fully compliant with employment law and associated legislation, are fit for purpose, operated effectively and maintained in order to ensure the fair and consistent management of employees across the Group.
  • To develop, coordinate and champion initiatives that ensure a diverse workforce and an inclusive culture where all staff members feel valued and respected.
