Barts Health is one of the largest NHS trusts in the country, comprising five hospitals and employing 21,000 staff.
Our vision is to be a high performing group of NHS hospitals, renowned for excellence and innovation and providing safe and compassionate care to our patients in East London and beyond.
That means delivering consistently high standards of care and always caring for patients in the right place at the right time. It also means being an outstanding place to work, in which our WeCare values and behaviours are visible to all and guide us in how we work together.
You will be responsible for the learning and development (L&D) portfolio and strategic direction of the L&D function for Barts Health, and support a culture of continuous learning and growth that enables staff to develop to their full potential.
You will oversee the design, development and delivery of our leadership, management and skills based training programmes, ranging from induction to coaching and communication skills and our accredited ILM leadership programmes, and City and Guilds accredited award in Education & Training.
Your role will be to ensure the centre adheres to awarding body criteria and has the highest levels of quality assurance, whilst acting as the internal expert advisor on learning and development (non-clinical) for the trust.
You will drive forward our digital education and training agenda whilst ensuring our training resources recognise different learning preferences and support neurodiversity.
You will also be responsible for the development and implementation of the trust’s apprenticeship strategy in line with national targets as identified in the NHS Long Term Workforce Plan and the trust’s people strategy.
With a team of 15 staff and an annual budget of £742,000 you will be an experienced line manager, able to work within a large complex organisation in a constantly changing environment.
You will require a strong background in developing, delivering and evaluating learning and development programmes and be an experienced trainer with expert delivery and facilitation skills.
You will require substantial experience of learning and development and hold a PGCE or equivalent teaching/learning and development qualification e.g. CIPD membership.
As Associate Director you will report into the Managing Director of the Education Academy and play a key role within the senior leadership team.
