North York Moors National Park Authority looks after one of the most phenomenal parts of the British Isles. Filled with beautiful moorland, picture book villages, and a dramatic coastline, the North York Moors is a unique area with diversity and ecosystems that are found nowhere else in the UK.

We are now looking for a Head of People to join our team on a permanent basis.  The working hours will be fixed between 30 and 37 per week to suit the successful candidate.

The Role

As our Head of People, you will determine the best approach to lead, support and empower our diverse team of people from a strategic perspective.

Driving organisational performance, culture and values, you will develop and oversee multi-year people plans, introduce innovative projects to enhance engagement and provide proactive support and coaching to managers on people-related issues.

You will lead the Volunteering team, HR/Health and Safety services and people development initiatives, ensuring the effective delivery of learning, performance management and diversity and inclusion programmes.

Additionally, you will:

- Embed a robust Performance Development Framework
- Implement creative workforce planning strategies
- Lead apprenticeship, trainee programmes, and EDI initiatives
- Oversee health, safety, and wellbeing programmes
- Analyse people-related metrics for decision-making
- Manage external contracts for employment law and health support services

About You

To be considered as our Head of People, you will need:

- Experience of developing and implementing a wide range of activities in all areas of people related work
- A real passion for providing the working environment in which people can develop their skills and deliver their work roles as well as they can
- Experience of leading and managing constructive relationships with a recognised Trade Union
- Knowledge of the practical application of current HR legislation
- CIPD membership or equivalent experience
