Henlee Resourcing is working in partnership with this logistics business based near Bristol to recruit a commercially orientated "hands on" HR Manager on a permanent basis.
This is a really interesting and exciting opportunity for an experienced and CIPD Level 7 qualified Senior HR Advisor / HR Manager looking to take the lead in rolling out HR across the business. Reporting to an influential Head of HR and managing a small team of 3, you will be enthusiastic to drive forward the HR agenda.
The opportunities to influence, guide and affect change are almost endless. This role will suit someone who thrives on a challenge and seeks alternative methods to guide and advise to ensure the Business is understanding of different cultures, working practices and challenges.
Day-to-day the role is a true generalist position and the successful candidate will need to be confident to lead significant projects through to completion, whilst balancing a busy and complex workload.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and implement appropriate people policies, procedures, practices and guidelines, in collaboration with employee representatives, that reflect and support both the people vision and overall business strategy and ensure compliance with relevant legislation
* Proactively partner with and support people managers across the business, providing advice, guidance, support and coaching as required, enabling them to manage and develop their teams effectively
* Lead the Advisors and Administrators, coaching, developing, empowering and performance managing them to deliver a first-class service to managers and employees alike, and ensuring that accurate and consistent advice is provided
* Support the business succession plan through the effective use of talent matrices, competency frameworks, development programmes and additional points of entry
* Support the agenda for high employee engagement and empowerment, utilising feedback and survey findings to inform internal communications, practices and initiatives e.g. recognition schemes
* Take the lead on well-being policies and initiatives that reflect our values and deliver a healthy and sustainable workforce, and ensure effective use of available benefits and services
* Optimise the use of technology within the department to automate workflows, inform and empower employees and ensure accuracy and consistency across the business
* Oversee the payroll function, ensuring processes are robust, efficient, and accurate, that a clear audit trail is maintained, and managing the monthly authorisation procedure
* Identify, develop and report on meaningful metrics that are aligned to and support the achievement of Company objectives
* Collaborate with the Resourcing Manager to develop and deliver our Employee Value Proposition in line with our company vision and values
* Oversee all aspects of data management and document retention, ensuring compliance with GDPR and security of all employee details
* Personally manage complex employee relations casework as appropriate and/or when escalated from an Advisor
* Undertake a wide variety of projects as identified to support the needs of the business, support the people vision and ensure compliance with latest legislation
Key Skills
* CIPD Level 7 Qualified
* Highly literate and numerate, with good attention to detail
* Considerable HR generalist experience with solid, up to date knowledge of employment law and best practice in HR
* A professional and commercial approach to HR, with a strong emphasis on high employee engagement and continuous development
* Proven leadership capabilities with the ability to coach, develop, empower and performance manage a small team
* Strong organisational, planning and prioritisation skills with the ability to juggle multiple challenges and initiatives at any one time
* Excellent communication, and relationship building skills, honed in business partnering or advisory roles
* Proactive and self-motivated, with examples of adding value as both an individual contributor and an active team member
* Ability to maintain confidentiality and act with discretion and diplomacy at all times
* Demonstrable experience in developing and supporting line managers through change
* Experience of working with a self-service web-based HR information system
* ICT savvy and able to utilise technology to innovate and drive efficiency
* Experience of managing payroll with clear understanding of processes and governance required
* Tenacious, resilient and positive nature, with a pragmatic approach to problem solving
* Evidence of commitment to CPD and personal growth
